Approach
How Diamond Claw® friction shims outperform conventional fastening solutions
The performance of a Diamond Claw® friction shim comes down to three physical properties working together: extreme diamond hardness, a tough nickel-phosphorus carrier matrix, and precisely controlled particle spacing across the full shim surface. Industrial diamonds embedded in the shim carry a hardness of 10,000 Vickers — held within a nickel-phosphorus matrix rated at 950 Vickers. That combination allows a Diamond Claw® to penetrate and interlock with mating surfaces hardened to 65HRC, creating a friction coefficient that conventional shims, coatings, or fastener torque alone cannot match. Uniform particle distribution ensures contact is not concentrated at high spots — every square millimeter of the shim surface contributes to the joint’s load-carrying capacity.
The Diamond Claw® Advantage
Uniformity
The uniformity of both diamond particle spacing and overall thickness ensure complete contact across the entire Diamond Claw® surface.
Extreme Hardness
Diamonds with an exceptional hardness of 10,000 Vickers are held within a nickel-phosphorus plated matrix of 950 Vickers.
Penetration Power
This combination of extreme hardness and toughness allow a Diamond Claw® to penetrate surfaces hardened to 65Hrc.
Quality Assurance
From start to finish, material quality, dimensional accuracy and project deadlines are our top priorities.
